8 Ways To Reset After A Stressful Day

Life can be hectic, and stress is an inevitable part of it! Whether it's due to work, personal challenges, or unexpected curveballs, we all encounter stressful days from time to time!

Not letting stress consume us can be difficult, finding ways to reset after a stressful day can create a tremendous impact on our overall wellbeing!

Here are eight ways to reset after a stressful day:

Deep Breathing Exercises

Deep breathing helps calm your nervous system and reduces stress hormones. Taking a few minutes after a stressful event or day to bring yourself back to your breath can help regulate your nervous system. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold your breath for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this several times. This can be done throughout your stressful day as well, not just at the end of it!

Move Your Body

Moving your body, even if it's just stretching for a few minutes, can do wonders for your stress levels! Movement releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters, and it helps you clear your mind. Whether you go on a walk after a stressful event or workday or you spend a few moments stretching, even a few moments of light movement can help move the stressful energy through your body!

Meditation and Mindfulness

Meditation and mindfulness techniques can help you stay in the present moment and alleviate stress. These techniques can also help you transition from your "work role" to "home role" after a stressful day. Find a quiet spot, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Take a few moments to regulate your nervous system and ground yourself.

Technology Break

Sometimes we think that we are using technology as a coping mechanism, but technology can also be a major source of stress. Disconnect from your devices for a while after a stressful event or day. Put away your phone, turn off notifications, and allow yourself to unplug and spend some time with yourself or a loved one!

Take A Warm Bath Or Shower

A warm bath or shower can regulate your nervous system and help you relax! Add some Epsom salts or your favorite bath aromatherapy oil to add a little more relaxation!

Read or Listen to Music

Escape into a good book or listen to your favorite music. Both can transport you to a different world and provide a welcome (and healthy) distraction from stress.

Call a Friend or Family Member

Call a friend or family member you trust! Sharing your feelings and experiences with someone who cares can provide emotional support and help you process your stress, rather than letting it bottle up!

Create A Routine

Establish a calming routine that signals to your body and mind that it's time to wind down. This could include sipping a cup of herbal tea, doing some light stretching, or journaling your thoughts! Give yourself time and space to explore with what feels best for your lifestyle.

Lastly,

Remember that it's okay to have stressful days; it's a part of life! What matters is how you respond to them. By incorporating these reset techniques into your daily routine, you can regain your sense of balance and well-being even on the most challenging days!
